Laserdarts Golden Widows and Golden Eagles

Darbug.com Score:

Ever have one of those nights when your playing is just on fire? That moment when practice, concentration and confidence converge making you unbeatable. Standing at the throw line preparing for the next round and there in your hands a set of darts that say what you feel inside, I am going to win this game.

We know that how a set of darts looks isn’t the key to throwing well, but it certainly doesn’t hurt. That rare time when craftsmanship creates a set of darts that perform as well as they look. Laserdarts has long been a leader is making those rare times come together and this month’s feature products are two fine examples of performance and appearance.

Laserdarts makes some of the best known and branded darts on the market. Their Widows and Eagles lines are the very definitions of style and quality. With several variations of each model to choose from to match your preferences, there is a design for most darters. We spent a month playing with Laserdarts Golden Widows and Golden Eagles, and we were not disappointed.

I have always been a fan of the look and design of the Widows line. They are among the best looking and striking darts made. Their definitive flights and unique wire shafts make these darts stand out from the crowd. But until last month I had never had a chance to really throw them. And I am sorry I didn’t do so sooner.

Our test darts were Golden Widows and Golden Eagles 20gram darts. The Widows were a moderately knurled grip and the Eagles a heavier knurling. Both offered a gold coating providing a great grip and offering added control and reduced slippage. From day one the darts felt comfortable and well balanced. Over the next four weeks we took these darts out to test them at our favorite darts bars. There we subjected them to all the typical dart bar abuse from spilled drinks to rough landings on cement and tile floors. But these darts took every abuse without fail.

The coatings on both models held up impressively. In testing we are often pretty hard on darts throwing the occasional wild toss and subjecting the darts to normal use by an average or beginning player. The coating survived numerous crashes into very hard cement floors colliding in tight groupings. To our delight the coating held up very well as did barrel integrity. No darts are bullet proof, but we were very pleased with the durability of both the Golden Widows and Golden Eagles we tested.

The Widows offer unique wire shafts offering a great alternative to traditional or spinning shafts. The wire grips the flights with the strength to keep them well in place, but in tight groupings the wires easily release the flights to prevent deflections. We loved these so much that we added them to other darts and found that they were an all around great concept at work. An added benefit is that these shafts do not kill your flights. Flights slip in easily with no damage and slip out during impact with no damage.

With the Widows distinctive spider flight design and curved shape, these darts are made to impress. Available in Black, Silver and Gold, there is a look and feel to match your taste. Each color is available in a smooth and knurled surface to match your grip preferences as well. All are packaged with two sets of flights, extra standard aluminum shafts, extra tips and a universal darts tool. All in a hard carry case.

While the Widows are a more shapely design, the Eagles are a narrow slender barrel evenly balanced and great for tight groupings. The lean slender design offers a long steady grip surface combined with a well designed surface. Again we were quite hard on these darts too. And in line with the Widows the Golden Eagles held up nicely under both normal play and abuse. Both offered a great look and feel with the confidence that the barrels will hold up well over time.

Both models come with a nice hard case. For darters who carry their darts every day, like our staff, the case fits well into a backpack and can take the bouncing around the daily train rides will subject them to. There isn’t much room for more but if you like to keep you darts with you these cases do the job nicely.

Laserdarts make darts that perform well, but what about appearance? We love a great set of darts that look as tough as they feel and as aggressive as they are well made. We loved the design and look of both these great darts. Attention to design has set Laserdarts apart giving their darts instant recognition in the dart bar. Distinctive flights and quality designs make these stand out above the crowd. With most manufacturer’s now producing gold darts, it was nice to see a finish that not only looks great but is intended to last. These are not shine finished darts. The Gold coating is there to provide control before appearance but achieves both with less flash and more style.

Standing at the throw line with a set of these great looking darts in your hands will give you that extra little confidence at the throw line. Added to their great performance we give Laserdarts Golden Widows and Golden Eagels a Dartbug.com 5 Bug approval. Give them a try!! You won’t be disappointed.
