Daf

Origin: Persia

Frame drums are most ancient type of musical instruments. Some pictures of women holding a frame drum have been found in the paintings, painted before the birth of Christ. They have a simple round wood frame with animal skin (synthetic nowadays).

RainInEden uses Daf, the large Persian frame drum. It has metal rings incorporated into the drum to provide the tripping jingle.

In Iran, Sufi Mystics use Daf during their Zikr (spiritual chanting) rituals.
Many Persian poets have alluded to the Daf in their works; perhaps the most famous one is Molana Jalal-al-Din Rumi.

Frame Drums including Daf have become very popular these days with a magically powerful spiritual sound effect.
