Why our rabab is the BEST

Our Rababs are made by Afghan music instrument makers living in the Afghan Refugee and Expat communities in Peshawar, Pakistan.
These are hand made using traditional methods by master makers who fled to Pakistan to escape the Taliban's ban on music in their home Afghan cities in the 1990s. The ongoing war in Afghanistan has made it too dangerous for them to return.

As a result the very best Afghan music instruments in the world are made by these master artists in Peshawar.

The instruments are made of traditional Mulberry wood with decorative inlay. The standard sized Rabab includes three main strings,
two long drone strings and 12-14 sympathetic strings.

Our maker is the fourth generation in his family to make traditional instruments. Their shop has been recognized for their high quality workmanship and for their preservation of traditional instrument building methods. These Rabab sound and look great. It has taken us two years of negotiation, planning and approvals to be able to offer these instruments.

There are many Indian and mass produced Rababs available on the market today. There rare old instruments in Japan from time to time. But true Afghan Rababs made by traditional Afghan master makers are nearly impossible to find anywhere today.

Please see our photos and feel free to ask any questions. We can provide a decorative Rabab as shown in photos, or simple Rabab.
If you live in Tokyo we can show you a sample of instruments from each of our two master makers.
